Year 11 students and staff volunteered to support the annual Valentines meal for Senior Citizens. This was the 38th year of this annual event (formerly the Harvest Supper). Jersey Potteries kindly donated the food and their staff provided the time to cook a three course meal for 100 senior citizens. Year 11 entertained our invited guests and waited on tables serving the delicious food, punctuated by musical performances and raffle prizes. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Students and senior citizens chatted and laughed as the evening progressed and friends from different nursing homes were reunited. It was lovely to see the community come together representing different generations. Our thanks and deep appreciation must go to all the Year 11 ambassadors and all the staff who made this annual event so successful. The communal ‘sing song’ led by ably well by our Connétable of St Saviour, Sadie Rennard – ‘Beautiful Jersey’ captured the sense of community. Well done to Mr Bennett, Assistant Headteacher for coordinating the event and all the drivers for their time collecting and delivering home safely, our most senior friends of Grainville School.
