Catchment and transition

The Grainville School catchment area includes seven primary schools on the Island of Jersey. We work closely with each primary school to ensure a positive relationship based upon a high quality transition programme that best supports the movement of pupils from primary school to Grainville.

The catchment area serves the North East of Jersey and the North of the town area of St. Helier.

The feeder primary schools in our catchment are as follows:

Grands Vaux
Janvrin School
Springfield School
St John’s School
St. Martin’s School
St. Saviour’s School
Trinity School

For contact details for the feeder primary schools, head on over to the feeder schools contact page.

Transitioning to Secondary School Horizon

For any child’s education, transitioning from primary to secondary school is an important milestone. At Grainville, we offer a unique and successful transition plan via ’Horizon.’ This school within a school offers a nurturing, supportive and well planned transition where students spend time in tutor groups and learning core subjects in one area of the school allocated specifically to Year 7. The passionate and dynamic small team of teachers and Head of Year teach across English, humanities and mathematics allowing a smooth and effective transition from primary into Year 7, fully preparing students for life in Year 8.

Year 7 students study other subjects such as science, art, music, design, ICT, French, PE, PSE and in the larger school base with specialist equipment and resources.

In Year 7 we offer a range of trips and visits, alongside house events and fundraising.
