At Grainville we understand that challenging socio-economic circumstances can create disparity and barriers for children to progress and become successful. We firmly believe that these challenges can be overcome as long as we better understand what they are. We want all of our students to reach their full potential. UK Research has shown that the most effective way to improve outcomes for ‘Pupil Premium’ students is for them to have excellent intervention to support areas for development.
States fee-paying and non-fee-paying schools have received extra funding for their eligible pupils since January 2017. Jersey Premium is a targeted funding programme for schools which has was introduced at Grainville in 2017. The funding was introduced to help all children get the very best from their education. Schools receive extra funding calculated on the number of eligible children they have each year. The funding is designed to ensure that all students receive high-quality teaching based on a detailed understanding of their needs or barriers to learning.
