Parents Evening’s 2023-2024 Evaluation Summary
Parent’s evenings provide parents/carers with an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress following the production of the most recent report. We invite parents/carers to give us feedback after their meetings with teachers so we ensure that the reporting and the format of the evenings meet parent’s needs. This document summarises the feedback we received over the last academic year.
Parent’s Evening attendance and feedback:
The detail below indicates the engagement of parents as a percentage of the cohort, and the percentage of parents/carers who provide us with feedback. Engagement by Year 8 parents was the highest last year.
At Key Stage 4, parents/carers are encouraged to attend two parents evening to enable us to provide additional face to face feedback. Working collaboratively with parents and carers provides a cornerstone of the support students can expect to receive to help them to achieve the highest possible grades in their GCSE examinations. The data below shows the percentage of parents who attended the evenings and those who provided feedback.
Evaluation of reporting and Parent’s Evening
Parents are requested to complete a short survey on laptops supported by our Prefect student leadership teams. These are provided in both English and Portuguese.
The 5 questions asked in the survey are shown below, together with a summary of the responses received. We are very pleased to receive such positive feedback.
1 | I like the look of the report and it is easy to understand |
2 | Information for the Parent’s Evening was clearly communicated |
3 | The Report informs me of the progress that my child is making |
4 | I am satisfied that all of my questions were answered by teachers this evening |
5 | Overall I am happy with my child’s experience at Grainville |
Areas we can improve:
Parents and carers have also provided some written feedback and here are some key actions for improvement:
- Helping parents to identify where teachers are sitting on parents evening, either by seating in alphabetical order or clearly signposting departments.
- Keeping appointments within their allocated time slots.
- Ensuring cancellations are communicated to parents as quickly as possible when staff are absent, and adding signage on the evening to provide this information.
- Providing a clearer guide to understanding the school report.
- Explaining more clearly how targets are generated.
