A group of students from Year 11 have successfully completed the expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award (Bronze Award). This involved six hours of planned activity each day, using map skills to trek across Jersey, to and from Grainville School and their designated campsite in St. Ouens. The team walked a distance of between 24 – 32km / 15 – 20 miles. They had to shop, set up camp and then cook for themselves, independently of adult help or assistance. The DoE Award is one part of many opportunities students have at Grainville to develop their leadership skills and personal resilience. The bronze award also has a 3 month volunteering / skills / physical element to the final award. Well done to all the members of this expedition team.
