The Grainville Running Club, launched last year is an initiative to get students active and work alongside the school’s ‘daily mile’. Students turn up before school at 7.30 a.m. every Wednesday morning. Each has an individual personal best and target to reach. Some students regularly achieve the 5k distance every week.
Grainville’s best attendance was 70 students which we achieved before February half term, but 60 students attend on weekly basis, this equates to about 9% of all the students at Grainville School. We would love this number to double in the coming year. After students have completed their post run stretching activities, they are feeling ‘good’ and ‘ready to learn’ for the day ahead. We are extremely proud of all the students that regularly attend and their commitment and motivation to leading healthy, active lifestyles. Students should see PE staff to get involved.
