On 25th January 2020, four Year 9 students took part in the Rotary Young Chef Cookery Competition, hosted by Les Quennevais School. This was a great opportunity for our budding chefs to showcase their practical cooking skills. Students were challenged to prepare in two hours, a three-course healthy meal comprising starter, main course and dessert for two people and costing less than £20.00.
The competition was judged by, Andrew Baird from Longueville Manor, Tom Radiguet from Samphire, David Inwood Head chef at Government house and Paul Wells from the General hospital.
Participants included Jorge, Abigail, Thomas and Phoebe. Our students rose to the challenge and all produced delicious three course meals within the given parameters. The competition was tough!
A Year 10 student from JCG won best menu and we were delighted when Thomas was awarded the Jersey Dairy prize for best dessert with his raspberry meringue.
Our students were excited to be part of this prestigious event and were a credit to the school. A special thanks to Bob Marshall from the Rotary Club for organising the event and to Mrs Allo, Mrs Cooper and Mr Le Mottee together with parents for supporting students with this competition
