Grainville students are running their own businesses with ‘real’ money as part of the Channel Islands Student Business Challenge. January and February has been busy months of sales following the launch of the challenge. Eight teams from Grainville School are competing with five other Jersey schools. In the first 8 weeks of the challenge some students have made over £1,000 profit. Students have been busy marketing and selling their products, in shops, in school and at Island events. From scented candles, glass key rings to beach art. Students have been developing key skills for the world of work including financial planning, communication, problem solving, team work and resilience. With the support from their business mentors from our 4 main sponsors Barclay, EY, Sure and Ogiers, the teams have been working out their profit and loss sheets, looking at advertising and making sure they have booked their all-important town pitches. Over the next 2 weeks the students are ramping up production as they get ready for Market Day on the 16th March in the Royal Square.
