We are delighted to announce that Ella (Year 8) has won the annual Association of Jersey Architects schools competition.
Ella’s design for a parklet (a miniature park that takes up the size of a parking space) was selected as being ‘the most extravagant design with the most ambitious of design ideas‘ from among all the entries received from Jersey schools. Mark Dennis, from the Association of Jersey Architects said, “The judges were so impressed with Ella’s parklet, the ideas demonstrated, the quality of work presented and the attention to detail put into the design, sketches and video that they have awarded a special commendation” too.
Mr Selby (Ella’s Design & Technology teacher) who invited all Year 8 students to consider entering the competition said this about Ella’s design:
“From the moment I saw Ella’s sketches and listened to her talking about her ideas, I knew that there was something special about her design. I’m thrilled that she has won and it’s clear that Ella is a superstar architect in the making.”
An exhibition showcasing all of the entries into the Association of Jersey Architects schools competition is planned for later in the year.
