Grainville School has been awarded the ‘Peoples Choice’ Award for Excellence.
16 of our talented year 10 Art students competed against other local schools, community groups and corporate sponsors to create a piece of art from a very simple, but plain wheelchair.
The competition entry was to raise awareness of Disability, diversity and through creating such a bold piece of colourful art they certainly did that.
The piece had a multitude of logos and symbols all drawing attention to the many differences that people in our community have yet also bringing them all together as one.
Some of our students attended the award ceremony and were not only rewarded with £100 for the school to spend on Art materials, but were also gifted a beautiful piece of art work created by one of the residents at Cheshire home.
The event was the Wheelchair Art Initiative 2024 at Rope walk, Cheshire homes
the award was given by Donna Abel (CEO)
We invited schools and community groups to decorate a wheelchair. Imagination was the only limit.
Donna Abel, our CEO said:
“This initiative is not just about art—it’s about breaking down barriers and encouraging people to rethink how they see disabilities. We hope this project sparks creativity and, most importantly, starts conversations about inclusion and the value of every person in our community. By extending the deadline, we want to give more people the opportunity to participate and make a positive impact.”
