On 23rd October 2019, eight Year 7 and 8 students took part in the JCG ‘Skills for Life’ Cookery Competition. This was a great opportunity for our budding chefs to showcase their practical cooking skills. Students were challenged to create a healthy main course dish using as many ingredients as they could that had been grown, reared or produced in Jersey. Students showed originality and creativity as they rose to the challenge to produce their dishes within an hour and be judged by Tom Radiguet, head chef from Samphire. In particular, we are very proud of Eliza Lehmann who won the Year 7 Dunlop Cup with her chosen dish of Moules, Potato Wedges and Salad together with Ella Wright who was the Year 8 runner up who made Carrot and Coriander Soup served with Cheese Scones.
Well done to Sam, Bethany, Eliza, Amy, Ella, Aeryn, Diogo and Mickael who took part.
Students returned to JCG on Friday 25th October for prize giving where each received a certificate and medal. We would like to thank JCG for hosting this event and their hospitality. A special thanks to Mrs Allo, Mrs Cooper and Mr Le Mottee together with parents for supporting students with this competition.
