Grainville is proud to be the only 11-16 state school in Jersey to have its own detachment as part of the Jersey Militia Army Cadet Force. This places Grainville in a select group of only 60 state schools in the UK with its own cadet force.
The Jersey ACF is a youth organisation catering for 12 to 18 year olds whose aim is to develop young people in adventurous training, teamwork and leadership. Although affiliated with the British Army, and locally the Jersey Field Squadron, the ACF is not a recruitment arm of the Army. The ACF undertakes a number of activities ranging from camping and field craft to parachuting, as well as navigation, drill, shooting, field cooking, first aid, climbing and much more.
Students from Years 8 – 11 can take part in a wide range of leadership opportunities that develop self-confidence and independence. It is a great way to have fun and stay active.
Currently, approximatively 10 Grainville students are members of the ACF Grainville Platoon Detachment.
