Autumn | Autumn During this term students will be expected to ‘drive’ their development forward into the professional and focused Artists we have been training them to be. Learning aim and context: • To enhance understanding of key concepts taught in Year 10. • To produce and complete a past exam paper that reflects their knowledge and potential as Artists. • To experience process of sitting a full 10 hr GCSE Art exam (Trial). Outcome of this exam will go towards 60% of final level. The main assessment task(s) will look at: • To develop a unit of coursework that will reflect the knowledge and understanding of the student’s chosen specialism using past papers. |
Spring | Spring • The GCSE Art exams are scheduled to take place towards the end of the second half of this term and are worth 40% of the final mark. All effort and concentration will focus on preparation for this in lessons. During this term, students will be expected to continue to ‘drive’ their development forward into the free thinking, professional and focused Artists we have been training them to be. |
Summer | • Students’, have the opportunity to reflect and refine on their coursework/portfolio and present the final draft by early May. This coursework (portfolio) is worth 60% of the students’ final level and marks the conclusion of the GCSE Art and Design course. |

Autumn Term | Students will be doing learning that supports them in preparation for their R018 exam. This includes: • The postnatal checks of a newborn baby • The specific needs of a premature baby • The postnatal provision and support given to mothers and babies • Conditions for development and children’s primary needs • The need for acceptable patterns of behaviour and approaches to discipline • Developmental norms and milestones for children ages 0-5. • Physical, intellectual and social development in children • The types of play and how it benefits children Students will complete an end of topic test to assess them on these areas of learning. Students will also be doing learning that supports them in completing their first 2 pieces of R020 coursework. This includes: Coursework 1: Understanding social, intellectual and physical development and milestones for children ages 0-5 Coursework 2: The benefits of learning through play Coursework 1 and 2 will be due by the Christmas holidays. |
Spring Term | Students will be sitting the 1st attempt at the real exam in January. Students will be doing learning that supports them in preparation for their R018 exam. This includes: • How immunity to disease and infection can be acquired • How to recognise and treat common childhood illnesses • When to seek treatment from a doctor/emergency medical care • Diet-related illnesses • The needs of an ill child • How to prepare a child for a hospital stay • How to plan, carry out and evaluate a range of different play activities for a chosen developmental area Students will complete a mock exam, which tests them on this learning and prepares them for the real exam in June. Students will be doing learning that supports them in completing their second 2 pieces of R020 coursework. This includes: Coursework 3: Child observation and planning a suitable activity for a child Coursework 4: Carrying out and evaluating an activity for a child and comparing it with their developmental milestones. The second 2 pieces of coursework will be due by the Easter holidays. Intervention will be put in place for any students who have missed the deadline. |
Summer Term | Students will be sitting the 2nd attempt at the real exam in June. Learning throughout this term will include: • How to create a safe, child-friendly environment • Safety labels and symbols • To be aware of most common childhood accidents • Social safety • Internet safety • Road safety Students will complete an end of topic test to assess them on these areas of learning. |

Autumn Term | Monologues | Monologue workshops continue and students are allocated lesson time for individual rehearsal, and peer and teacher feedback. Each solo performance takes place before the end of term. |
Spring Term | Theatre and Devising | Preparation for the written paper begins. In groups, students create a short devised performance based on stimuli from a pre-release booklet supplied by the exam board. Students will look at how they can analyse their theatrical decisions, and how they have tried to create meaning for an audience. |
Summer Term | Analysing Theatre | This term is dedicated to Sections, A, B& C of the written paper. Students work practically, as a class, in groups, in pairs, and individually to study a short extract from a play provided in the pre-release booklet. This term will focus on exam techniques, revision techniques and practice questions as well as exploration of the text. |

Y11 students complete their choice of GCSE studies in biology, chemistry and physics. Once the content has been completed, students undertake a preparation period that includes examination techniques as well as a review of their entire GCSE courses, including the eight required practicals that form part of each of the three sciences. The science department also provides after-school revision and intervention sessions as various times throughout Y11.
