The academic year 2017-18 is about to commence.
Monday 4th September : Staff only for annual training day
Tuesday 5th September : Students return to school
A warm welcome back to Grainville. We trust and hope that all families of staff, students and school governors have enjoyed a great summer break. The following summary outlines the start of term arrangements.
The school opens its doors to students from 8.00 a.m on Tuesday 5th September starting with morning registration at 8.30 a.m. For students that arrive before 8.30 a.m. must go to the canteen or wait in the social courtyards. The school canteen will be open from 8.00 a.m. and offer breakfast. For health and safety reasons students must not be on the school site prior to 8.00 a.m.
By way of a polite reminder, parents bringing their child to school by car should drop off their child in the two upper parks and not at the front of the school. This is to ensure the safety of all site users in and around the front of the school. Students cycling to school will be able to access the secure bike compound from 8.00 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. This is locked by the site staff at 8.30 a.m. and opened again at 2.50 p.m. each day. Jersey law requires students under the age of 14 to wear a cycle helmet .
Students in Years 8-11 already know their timetables and teachers for the year ahead. Upon arrival students in Years 8-11 should go directly to their form bases for morning registration at 8.30 a.m.
Students in Year 7 should go to their form bases in Horizon (Year 7 base) upon arrival. Year 7 will have an extended form time to better understand their timetable.
All students will be given their new school planner for the year to record homework and timetable matters. This will also provide a space for comments from parents and staff.
School ends at 2.50 p.m. School buses will remain on site in the bus lane in the upper car park until 3.00 p.m.
