A new pedestrian crossing will be created at the junction of Deloraine Road and La Chasse Brunete on St Saviour Hill. This will significantly improve the safety of pedestrians at this difficult junction. It will however cause traffic problems during the period of construction.
The works, commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure, will be completed by Brenwal Civil Engineering Contractors. Works commences on 20th February and is expected to last two weeks. St Saviour’s Hill will be restricted to one lane only with the use of traffic lights and stop/ go signs. It is likely to create congestion especially in the week after half term, Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March. Pedestrian access to the Grainville rugby pitch, adjacent to Deloraine Road will be closed for the duration of half term only. Mr McGuinness said he was ‘extremely pleased that after many years of asking for a safer crossing for students, the Department for Infrastructure is now going to create one at a key junction of roads for both students and local community to use’.
