Language Futures is a UK-based initiative to promote Modern Foreign Languages for students that genuinely have an interest in learning a new language. At Grainville students can study French, Spanish and Italian as part of their KS4 options. These are taught lessons during the school day. Portuguese is taught after school. From September Grainville’s MFL department is embarking on a new venture, ‘Language Futures’ This is an addition to what is currently taught in school. It offers a post-school opportunity for a student to pair up and learn any language. Following an application process 25 students and 5 staff have been accepted onto the programme. The following languages will be studied every Thursday after school include: Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Mandarin Chinese, French, Japanese, British Sign Language and Portuguese.
