Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Mandarin Chinese, French, Japanese, British Sign Language and Portuguese are all being studied as part of a post-school language initiative called ‘Language Futures’. Twenty five students and five staff have paired up to attend their first Language Futures session this week.
Every Thursday after school the Modern Language Department will be a buzz with the sound of enthusiastic students and staff beginning to learn to listen, understand and speak or sign in a new language. The World is made up of thousands of languages. Nine in one school is a good start here!
Language Futures is a UK-based initiative to promote Modern Foreign Languages for students that genuinely have an interest in learning a new language. At Grainville students can study French, Spanish and Italian as part of their KS4 options. Portuguese is taught after school.
