Grainville hosted a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) day for year 9 students focusing on the importance of STEM when choosing options. Throughout the day students from Grainville, Beaulieu, Le Quennevais, and Le Rocquier schools took part in activities ranging from programming rescue robots to designing radar towers and planes. The day was supported by the RAF and highlighted the importance of STEM subjects in the future. Students were asked to picture an engineer, the vast majority pictured mechanics. By the end this perception had become a lot more varied.
There is an opportunitty for students to follow this up with a residential week. Those that are interested should see Mr Hutchings for an application form, closing date 10/07/2018.
