The Bridge Child & Family Centre

The Bridge Child & Family Centre was developed in 2006 and provides resilience based services for families and young people.

The centre is a co-location of agencies including:

  • Youth Action Team
  • Jersey Child Care Trust
  • Family Nursing & Home Care
  • Midwives
  • Housing
  • Parenting Support Services
  • Brighter Futures charity

Core services include:

  • integrated early family learning
  • family support
  • health services
  • outreach services to children and families not attending the Centre
  • access to training and employment advice
  • youth club (funded by Children In Need)

The Bridge is working towards a model of multi-agency and partnership working, based on a community development model where parents:

  • get involved in supporting their own child’s learning and development
  • engage in adult community education
  • get involved in devising or delivering services for other parents

The business ofThe Bridge is extending all the time, as agencies, in collaboration with the Child and Family Centre increase the opportunities for clients. From the onset The Bridge has set itself ambitious goals and these have been achieved through the appointment of staff in the Centre. The posts, funded by the charity “Brighter Futures” have facilitated the development of innovative research based programmes based on self management, relationships and formal qualifications. This approach to the engagement of families and young people has allowed The Bridge to listen to parents, teachers, professionals, children and young people. The users value the programmes on offer with some users now accessing services on a daily basis. Friends of The Bridge charity support the community development initiatives, the café and youth work.
