ACF Platoon Offically Inducted

Army Cadets Grainville Platoon ( ACF) : Our ACF Platoon will be offically inducted in the presence of General Sir John McColl KCB, CBE, DSO, Lieutenant-Governor on 12th January 2012. Grainville school is the only state school in Jersey to have its own Platoon made up of 3 sections. This is reflected in the Royal Jersey Militia webiste. To put this membership into perspective, only 1.5% of all state schools in the UK have access to the ACF. In total 256 schools have a Combined Cadet Force CCF / ACF, of which 196 are in independent schools only 60 in state sector. Twenty seven students from Grainville make up the Grainville Platoon. Students aged 12-16 take part in a wide range of practical activities that help to build self-esteem and confidence whilst develop leadership. Their experience in the ACF provides fun and healthy activities for young people. Their participation helps to instil values sometimes missing in society including self-reliance, loyalty, courage, integrity and a sense of service to others.
