Year 9

Subject: PSE

During this term students will revisit the topic of Drugs, in particular Illegal Drugs, to enable informed decision to be made in the future, Awareness raising of the dangers of Alcohol will also be revisited. Outside speakers from AA and the Police will be invited into school if time allows.
The PSE curriculum is also supported through the tutorial programme and the Challenge Days.
The main assessment task will be individual/group research and presentation of the information on a chosen drug.

During this term students will embark on a career journey by taking part in ‘The Real Game’. This will introduce the Careers element of the year, assisting the students with their option choices and challenging them to consider their future, as well as introducing budgeting, tax, contributions etc.
The PSE curriculum is also supported through the tutorial programme and the Challenge Days.
The main assessment task will be completion of the Real Game and the supporting evidence.

During this term students will take part in the Relationships Module. This will build on the work already covered in Y7/Y8 by, reinforcing prior knowledge and further developing their skills and attitudes with regards in particular to sex education.

The main assessment task will be completion of the module with supportive evidence.
