| Autumn |
During this term students will study:
- Indonesian Music
- Film Music
The main assessment task (s) will look at:
- A research project based on the music, culture, geographical position of Indonesia. There is a particular focus on Gamelan Music which features as a performance after the research presentations.
- To create the music for a particular scene from a film. The scene will be played without sound and the students will provide the sound track, using departmental instruments of their choice.

During this term students will study:
- Samba Project
- Impressionist Music
The main assessment task(s) will look at:
- Performing and composing polyrhythmic pieces using untuned percussion.
- Creating images and music in the Impressionist style, using relevant techniques.

| Summer |
During this term students will study:
- Variations on a Theme
- Song Writing
The main assessment task(s) will look at:
- Composing, performing and notating a theme and then composing further variations upon the theme, using an instrument of own choice.
- Compose lyrics, melody and chord pattern of a song about own subject choice.
