| All students study Food, Textiles and Technology on a rotation. Spending approximately 9 weeks in Food, and Textiles and 16 weeks in Technology. All students are entered for the Entry Level Certificate for Design Technology Product Design. This will help students to achieve their full potential by allowing them- - To develop and practice designing and making skills. - To make quality products. - Investigate, disassemble and evaluate familiar products. - Study industrial practices - Consider the effects and implications of Technology - Work both individually and as members of a team The Course is assessed by Portfolio work. 50% Designing 50% Making - Students are required to submit four units of work. - Over the year they will complete several of the units and then select to best four to be submitted for assessment. - These will be carried out in Textiles, Technology and Food lessons. - 2 units are compulsory these are Health and Safety and Evaluation. The other two are selected by subject teachers and may include:- - Systems and control in Design and Technology - Food handling – Preparation and storage - Preparing food for a specified function - Food grains from source to table - Design and make an acrylic/wooden/metal product. - 2D 3D Drawing - Disassembling and investigating of a fashion accessory - Enhancement of fabrics through the application of colour, pattern or Texture - Making a mechanical Model - Using Robots |
