Year 8

Subject: PSE

During this term students will study Drugs, in particular the harmful effect of Alcohol, Nicotine, Solvents and Cannabis to raise their awareness and enable them to make informed decisions.
Prison Me No Way will take place this term, reinforcing the above.
The PSE curriculum is also supported through the tutorial programme and the Challenge Days.
The main assessment task will be the completion of questions on the above as evidence.

During this term students will look at Stereotyping and how this can influence our actions and decisions. This will include considering the affect that friendships have and considering types of behaviour and aspiring to be assertive. Personal qualities will again be identified and validated by a friend.

The main assessment tasks will be supportive evidence in folder and completion of questions.

During this term students will consider Positive Body Image and the influences that face young people. Customs and traditions in other parts of the world will be considered when discussing the pros and cons of currently popular body art. Awareness of eating disorders and their prevention will also be studied.
