Year 8

Subject: Music
 Autumn During this term students will study:
  • Song Performance
  • Guitar Performance
The main assessment task (s) will look at:
  • A group performance of the song ‘Midnight Hour’, including keyboards, guitar, drums and vocals.
  • A group or solo performance of the song ‘Wonderwall’ or ‘Live for Ever’, using the chords Em, G, D, A7 or G, Em, A7, D, Em7.
 Spring

During this term students will study:

  • Ragtime Music
  • Graphic Score

The main assessment task(s) will look at:

  • Performing the ‘3-Handed Rag’ on keyboards incorporating all 3 parts.
  • To compose and perform a piece notated in Graphic Score format. To interpret fellow students scores.
 Summer During this term students will study:
  • Blues Music
  • Egyptian Music

The main assessment task(s) will look at:

  • Composition and performance of a 12 bar blues, including walking bass and improvisation using a Blues scale.
  • Performance of an Egyptian piece using untuned percussion and voice. Composition of a cyclic polyrhythmic piece.
