| Autumn |
Unit 1: Script
In this half term pupils will look at one script and consider how its scenes are created to develop plot for an entire play text, by mapping the play, looking at the character developments and work shopping off-text moments.
Unit 2: From page to stage
This unit will look at all the different elements of theatre that have to be considered when putting on a production, from direction, to lighting design, set making and publicity.

| Spring |
Unit 3: Performance Technique
In this unit pupils will prepare and perform to a public audience of parents, teachers and primary school. Pupils will develop thoughtful characterisations that have depth and purpose, they will have to learn lines, movement and choreography.
Unit 4: Genre and Naturalism
The aim of this unit is to be able to recognise and evaluate the conventions of different genres of theatre. Pupils will use stereotyping to mix conventions and create their own unique genre. Pupils will then look at naturalism and soap-drama to create their own school based soap called ‘ Maidenville School’

| Summer |
Unit 5: Dance-Drama – Horror
Using the theme of Horror the pupils will use movement work to create an ensemble piece of dance-drama.
Unit 6: Synoptic unit: Big Brother
Using all the skills they have learnt this year pupils will use characters from Big Brother to devise a piece about relationships. This will be assessed and give the pupils their end of year levels for Making, Performing and Responding.
