History

Two courses are offered at GCSE level in History:

Year 11

Subject: History
(School History Project)

 Autumn 
  • American West 1840-1895: The Great Plains and the Plains Indians; Early Settlers and, Cattlemen and Cowboys.
 Spring
  • American West 1840-1895: Farming on the Plains; Law and Order.
  • Year 11 Mock exam sat during this term.
 Summer
  • American West 1840-1895: The Struggle for the Plains.
  • Revision for final exam.

 

Year 11

Subject: History
History (Modern World)

 Autumn 
  • 'Controlled Assessment' on Britain at War. This involves answering two essay based questions using source information, about weapons and warfare from World War One and Two, provided by the school and exam board under exam conditions.
 Spring
  • The USA and Vietnam 1964-1975, looking at the tactics used by both sides in the conflict, the media coverage in America and, why ultimately the USA lost the war.
 Summer
  • Revision for the final exam
