Year 11 

Subject: English

During this term students will study the Literature poems for the exam and the novel for the Literature exam. They will also undertake the first formal Speaking and Listening task that will be submitted by the school and will go towards their final GCSE grade.

The students will be continually assessed by their teacher throughout this term, to check for knowledge and understanding of the Literature material.

 During this term students will study Poems From Other Cultures, Media and Non-Fiction and Writing to inform/explain/describe, in preparation for the Language exams. They will also undertake the second and third formal Speaking and Listening task that will be submitted by the school and will go towards their final GCSE grade.

After Christmas, the students will have 3 mock exams, replicating the ‘real’ GCSE exams: One Literature exam and two Language exams.
The students will be continually assessed by their teacher throughout this term, to check for knowledge and understanding of the Language material.

During this term students will study Writing to argue/advise/persuade in preparation for the Language exams. They will then focus on exam revision and timed essays.

The students will be continually assessed and their teacher will advise them on particular areas for focus in preparation for the examinations.
