Design Technology

Autumn TermDuring the Autumn and Spring term, students will focus on their second and last controlled assignment for the “Making Quality Products” unit. This unit covers:

- Designing for a need
- Working with tools and equipment
- Evaluating the product

- They have 20 hours to complete the unit.
- The product brief must be chosen to fit within the themes set by the exam board.
 

Spring TermDuring the Spring term, as well as completing the controlled assignment, students will undertake studies to prepare them for the “Technical Aspects of Design and Making” exam in the Summer. This exam covers:

- Working with tools and materials
- Selecting processes
- Designing for success

Summer Term

During the Summer term, any lessons remaining will be devoted to final exam preparation and revision.
