Work Related Learning

Year 10

Subject: WRL

 Autumn   

During this term students will study health, safety and responsibility in the work place and select their first work experience placement. They will then begin the first module for accreditation - Prepare for the Working Day, using the experience they have gained from their chosen placement.


The main assessment task will look at an understanding of the world of work, responsibility and commitment needed to be made to be successful

 Spring

During this term students will study a second module for accreditation – Health and Safety in the Work Place. Again drawing on the students actual work placement to identify health and safety rules, possible hazards and how they can be corrected, the use of personal protective equipment and what to do in case of an emergency.

The main assessment task will look at the understanding of the importance of health and safety procedures and risk assessments required for their role in the work place.

 Summer

During this term students will study a third module – Find Out About the Work Place.
Students will be identifying different job roles and activities within a company and how employees interact with management, colleagues and customers.


The main assessment task will look at the understanding of company structure and the variety of activities within that company, relating to size, location and production.
