Religious Education

Year 10

Subject: Philosophy & Ethics

 Autumn

During this term students will study ethical units on Prejudice & Equality & also be introduced to Philosophy & the nature of Belief considering the question ‘how do we know ?’

Students will study the module of Poverty & wealth, playing the Trading game to learn about world debt. They will also complete a module on Science & religion, cosmology & the creation & evolution debate

The main assessment task(s) will look at writing an essay on Christianity & the morality of wealth.

 Spring

During this term students will consider ethical modules on peace & justice & philosophical discussions about life after death & the nature of God.

The main assessment task (s) will be a piece on preparing a Christian funeral.

 Summer

During this term students will study 2 modules; Medical Ethics, like abortion, euthanasia and embryology, & then one on Religion & the Media.

The main assessment task(s) may be entering students for the first final examination.
