Photography

Year 10

Subject: Photography

 Autumn 

During this term students will develop a thorough understanding of the assessment criteria used in GCSE Photography and how to work and think as an artist.
Learning aim and context:

  • Mind Mapping and creating a Mood Board as an inspirational starting point.
  • Composition and structure. How/when/where to take a photograph.
  • How to use a digital camera on manual settings. How to take a photograph under any lighting conditions.
  • Artist research and its influence and its importance.
  • Introduction to Adobe Photoshop as our ‘dark room’.
  • How to present, mount and display your work as a professional.

The main assessment task(s) will look at:

  • Develop a final piece that best communicates the understanding of the knowledge and techniques that have been studied.
 Spring

During this term students will continue to develop a thorough understanding of the assessment criteria used in GCSE Art and how to work and think as an artist.
The main assessment task(s) will look at:

  • Preparation for the Y10 Mock exam. Students are given a minimum of 4 weeks to develop preparatory sheets in response to a GCSE exam paper. Students will then be expected to produce a final piece during a 5 hour timed period.

Students will be expected to develop a unit of coursework in response to their own interests.

 Summer This module is currently being rewritten with a new area of focus.
